Dany Heatley to San Jose?

According to ESPN–sources have recently told ESPN’s John Buccigross that the Ottawa Senators have reached an agreement to send Dany Heatley to the San Jose Sharks.

Apparently, there’s a three team deal involving the Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators, and San Jose Sharks.  Specifically, The Sharks’ Patrick Marleau will be headed to Los Angeles, while the LA Kings players–Alexander Frolov and Jarret Stoll will be headed to Ottawa.

At this point, all three of the team’s GMs have denied this deal–Bryan Murray(Sens), Doug Wilson (SJ), and Dean Lombardi (LA).

Bryan Murray was quoted as saying:

“It’s simply not true,” Murray told ESPN.com Thursday night . “I’ve had conversations with teams today but still I’m not close to a deal [involving Heatley].”

Personally, I prefer Lombardi’s denial:  “It is complete bull.”

Much like the previous trade between Edmonton and Ottawa, Patrick Marleau does have a no-trade clause which he would have to waive.  Apparently, he’s expressed recently that he’s pretty happy and settled living in San Jose.

At this point, there’s a denial of this trade rumor still posted on TSN which is still the most definitive source for hockey information…

***Update on Dany Heatley trade… Dany Heatley has been traded to the San Jose Sharks, however, the trade is different than how this particular rumor suggested.  Read more:  Dany Heatley traded to San Jose.
