According to Dan Tencer’s twitter, it sounds like the Edmonton Oilers will be placing Sheldon Souray on IR tomorrow morning. This will correspond with an injury call-up for Taylor Chorney. Souray’s out with a recent concussion following the incident with Jarome Iginla that occurred while skating after the puck towards the boards.
If you missed the hit, here it is on YouTube:
Symptoms of Post-concussion syndrome:
- Loss of concentration and memory
- Noise and light sensitivity
- ***Symptoms usually last for 3 months, but can persist for a year or longer.
With Theo Peckham recently back in the AHL of recovering from an injury himself, it sounds like Taylor Chorney will be getting the call-up. Over at Lowetide, there’s some mixed reactions to Chorney getting the call-up.
It’s possible that Pat Quinn/Steve Tambellini chose Chorney to provide a the team with a dman to fill in for some powerplay time with Souray out. Though Chorney is currently 4rth in the AHL among defencemen in terms of scoring (GP4/G2/A3/P5), he produced just 21 points with five goals last season in the AHL for the Falcons after playing 68 games. Last year with the Falcons, he was plus/minus -29. This year, he is currently minus four.
